Ductile walls with diagonal web reinforcement

Ivan Tomičić

Abstract

The study and analysis of low ductile reinforced-concrete walls influenced by transverse forces, and featuring web reinforced with inclined bars, is presented. It was determined by testing that the web reinforced in this way is more ductile than the wall reinforced by fabric consisting of vertical and horizontal bars. The fabric model with compressive concrete and tensile steel members was used to define an expression for dimensioning. Small savings in web reinforcement can be realized when inclined bars are installed, but the installation work lasts longer.
